Poem
Darkness fell like the heavy cloak of fear, Bursting all around the cross, So I could see the grief erasing His life, His grace, though, still glistened – sweating Breathless mercy, even in this state When absolution meant giving up the moment Breaking through the darkness, vanishing From the earth, dying – in the ultimate sacrifice Pouring from hearts, tears clung to lashes Moaning, mourning, making haste Through the torn words, “It is finished” Comes the heart wrenching ending, the final Expression from One who is more beautiful Than the moon or stars, more inspiring Than the stirring of daybreak, when the reflections From the dew kiss away the night, the darkest dread Fragrant spices emptied over His wounds, tenderly Remembering His wisdom, His kindness, His gentleness Tears fall onto the mangled body, the One who gave Up every ounce of blood so that those who believe, Those who follow His lead, could be rescued by the flow, His gift of grace, flooding the souls who know Him As light, as love, as the Son from above who brought to This world, the greatest gift of hope, the gift of redemption Grieving filled the land where this man had been crucified, Hearts were breaking, agonizing, reminded of the One Who had touched lives with His miracles, His promises, His Forgiveness… His touch remains the greatest gift on earth, The only gift worth living for and the only One worth dying for Wonder so generous and compassionate, a touch so blessed It feels like there is peace in the promise, breakthrough In the consolation, liberation from darkness, freedom’s touch Savoring the last moments of His tenderness, followers Gathered in hopes of somehow saving Him – yet It would become apparent, after three days in the tomb – Those who knew Him would be favored by God When they realized He had risen and His love still flowed, Still blessed, still flavored hearts and souls with grace That can’t be described – grace that is alive, like the heart Who He inspires with this joy that comes from tasting of His wonderful!
