No one can go back in time
But that's where the answer lies
In all those moments where tenderness sat waiting
But was met with a cold heart

No one can go back in time

The dead air after I said thank you or I love you
In the moments I wasn't welcome or loved in return

When I put my coat where yours should hang
So you threw mine on the floor

When you insisted I apologised
For things you thought I'd thought

No one can go back in time
But that's where the answer lies
Where I hugged you
And you didn't hug me back

All the things you want now, were right there day after day
All the things I wanted, were cruelly withheld
So don't tell me everything will change because you're now experiencing discomfort
I endured every rejection and told you how I felt and how to fix it
If it was my feelings about these things motivating you, then your discomfort wouldn't be necessary for you to realise
