Poem
America, I think that you were at your strongest on your birthday, July 4, 1776. The last line of The Declaration of Independence convinces me of the same. Since birth, you have had massive feats of strength and greatly assisted our world in being a better place. America, all people and nations must be 'weighed in the balances'. America, there is no denying that you have also done great evils, but history reveals that you have sought corrections and made amends for many of those evils. For this, I am grateful to God and proud of you. In a large measure, you honored and submitted to God, and as a result, God blessed you to become great and a genuine gift to the world. You are still a gift to the world, but your greatness is rapidly disappearing. I think not that it is dissipating because of what other nations and people have done. I rather think that our lights are dimming because of what we are doing to ourselves. It appears that we have forgotten from where we came and by lies we are being entertained. Unfortunately, we are now feeling the pain. Also, we are losing our identity, and don't know what or who we want to be. America, perhaps we were at our weakest point when Lincoln spoke these words in his Gettysburg Address: "Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure". May our present weakness never descend to the level of 1863. America, although our lights are not as bright, they are still shining. With God being our guide, we can still be a beacon so dearly needed. Moreover, in spite of all the challenges we face with difficult and dark days ahead, there's still cause for me to say, Happy Birthday, America. 061523PS
