let go of all I am holding onto."

I let it slip away
I let all the hurt just float away
the hurt of words said to me
that I have held within me for years
stabbing my heart each day
but no more
I refuse to go on
I have made a decision
no more hurt will haunt this girl
nevermore will I repeat those words
said to me 
that I hold in my mind

and now that I have let the hurt go
I feel so much better
lighter and free to be me
those words are meaningless now
that were said years ago
and held within me 
and for what purpose really
just so they can hurt me over and over
but no more
just go away words and hurt
fly away

I do not want to keep you anymore
go back to your origin
back to the people who uttered them
with such venom and hate
back to the people who hurt me
you know who you are
think about what and why
you said those words to me
and the hurt you did
live with it
and ask Almighty God
to forgive you
