" I know what you dream! "

                           the Devils warrior, Mykoto


The story begins in the 10th Dynasty of China,
and a Governor's need for warriors;
his name was Zheng Li and he is very cruel,
to afford this he taxes the peasants;
a mother instead gifts her deformed son.

The man is 22 years old and badly deformed,
his name is Chenglei, his story sad:
as he cannot speak and has bulbous growths,
said to be the child of a demon;
also Chenglei seems to be immune to pain. 

Chenglei is chained in the palace for entertainment,
in the great dining hall he is tortured:
while the Governor's warriors humiliate him,
even the Governor's daughter insults,
but, he has one friend a kind Storyteller who cares.

One evening while all in the dining hall are drunk,
a warrior makes a deal with the Governor:
he claims he can stab the beast with his sword,
while he is blindfolded and so he does;
Chenglei is stabbed in his heart and is left to die.

In his cage the Storyteller sits with him waiting,
until a mysterious man arrives, Mykoto;
the Devils warrior asks the Storyteller to leave.
he bends close to Chenglei and whispers;
"I know what you dream," and offers him a deal.

Chenglei dies and is resurrected as Mandarin Spawn,
a mighty Hell Spawn seeking revenge:
he begins a bloody battle to kill all who hurt him,
all the warrior's and the Governor's daughter;
but he does not kill the governor and the Storyteller.

He puts the Governor in his own previous hanging cage,
to stay there forever till the end of time:
the rest of his life is the stuff of legends, but it is said,
he finds a lover and and forms and army;
an army who follow him through the gates of Hell.

Being a Hell Spawn he has superhuman strength and speed,
stamina, regeneration, and he uses magic:
he has great ability with his swords and combat moves,
and Mandarin Spawn wears the most beautiful armor,

He appeared in a cameo in comic #292 and shows up,
in modern day to do battle, but mostly:
he rules a small corner of Hell with his lover at his side,
I am happy he got his revenge in time,
as no one should be treated like that but, I am also sad.

Sad, because Mandarin Spawn is a bloodthirsty killer now,
always seeking his revenge for all time:
it would be so nice if he was granted peace to live life,
a normal man without deformity of any kind;
to enjoy all the things we enjoy with his love at his side.
