The minutes count down
To a day starting
Which I'm too tired for
I can't imagine full functionality
Eyes that blink
Instead of clamp closed
Breath that goes in and out
Rather than sits and waits
The change from the horizontal
To the vertical
Seems to defy scientific possibilities
Surely I have no balance point
And I am top heavy with tiredness
My feet feel galaxies away
A concept rather than propriocepted reality
The tock has ticked into position
No more time for thinking
I'll shift my centre of gravity
Divert energy from thinking to doing
And try not to walk into things
As I spend the day trance like
Until I once again can lie down
Unfortunately alertness lies there
The saboteur of tomorrow
