Elizabeth Ann "Liz" Sherman is a fictional character in the Hellboy Comic book series. She is human. Born in Kansas City, USA, She was quite a normal child until her pyrokinetic abilities manifested at about ten years old. And at eleven years old she burned her home and family to death, her parents, brother and the family dog. She is a Firestarter! And is sent to the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defence, the BPRD. In time she became of long time field agent of the bureau alongside Hellboy and he became her love interest. This Hellboy is a fictional character also, a Superhero, half human and half demon, he was summoned from Hell to Earth as a baby. In time he grew to be a muscled man with red skin, a tail, horns (which he files down to nubs) and oversized right hand, known as the Right Hand Of Doom. Her childhood trauma leaves Liz bitter and she comes and goes from the Bureau. By accident she transfers her fire powers to a homunculous, a small statue of a human made of clay which comes alive and kills her partner Bud, and then runs away. Liz goes into a coma because of the loss of her power that causes her body to fail. She is saved by Hellboy who finds Roger, as he is known now, and her powers are returned to her. To learn how to control her power Liz goes to live with a society of monks in a mountain temple. She learns to have better control over fire. She can produce flames to light her way, explosions of flames to destroy anything to dust. She can manipulate fire into shapes and designs. In a dream an object is revealed to her by Memnan Saa, a mysterious sorcerer which increases her power. Liz burns the towering Katha-Hem, a creature who stands on spidery tripod legs as high as a mountain with a top with tentacles and green teethed maws lining his trunk. He was created to turn people into frog creatures. After Liz is having visions in dreams of Memnan Saa leaving her irritable and unreliable. She is kidnapped by him but her team kills him and saves her. But, in another mission his ghost intercepts her with future visions. So, she unleashes her full power to save the world, after it seems her powers are gone but they do return even more powerful. She returns to the BPRD. Many battle successful battles and missions follow with the help of her team. Too numerous to explain in this poem. After that, Liz plays and active role in cleaning up world threats. One day she is walking the streets of New York City when she is called upon by the spirit of Hellboy (he had died as he often does.) Now, it is rumoured that Liz is pregnant with twins and Hellboy is the father! Is it true? Does Liz give birth to twins? Questions and questions about Liz Sherman! And most important, where is she? ____________________ April 08, 2023 Poetry/Prose Poetry/Woman of Hellboy, Liz Sherman Copyright Protected, ID 04-1538-297-08 All Rights Reserved, 2023, Constance La France Written for the Premiere contest, The Women of Hellboy sponsor, Robert James Liguori, Judged 04/11/2023 First Place
