Poem
Finding Peace Gazing at the sun in the morn Rising behind the distant hills, Brightening the dim horizon And greeting the neighbouring fields Confers peace and joy to the heart, Quietude to the human mind And a sense of solace imparts To a forbearing observer. In the same vein, watching with care A garden flower blossoming And spreading apace in the air Its sweet and delicate perfume For anyone to stand and stare Instils in a careful beholder The essence of tranquility And makes his spirit grow fonder. Beholding the slowly setting sun On a sunny summer afternoon Settling on the crimson horizon Off the coast of a sandy beach Enlivens the heart with ecstasy Beyond the bounds of common reach And showers peace and tranquility On an attentive onlooker. Gazing at the myriads of stars On a delightful summer night, Some hundreds of light years away Up high in the sky shining bright And lightening the earthly way Creates a clear sense of delight Deep in the heart of the viewer And a feeling of peace does ignite. Yet real peace lies not outside, But deep within the inner self, Which is just like a lovely lake Reflecting the image of oneself, Ever bright and always awake, Shining with kindness for others And keen to treat others like brothers Of the extended human race. Real peace lies in offering Service to the Almighty Lord, Devoting oneself to His shrine, Linking with Him as best as one can afford And ever chanting divine hymns As He is the fountain of peace, The bestower of divine grace And the source of eternal bliss. If everyone on the earthly plane Were to connect to the inner self And tread along the peaceful lane To reach the gem of inner peace Or connect to the Supreme Lord And embrace His love on board Global peace won`t be hard to find, Nor would the goal of human bliss Be just a long lingering dream, But quite an achievable wish.
