Poem
"Living" That one-eyed god, that strange god the colour of the sun, leonine, speaks in strange ways to me, waking me up purring seductively, message received obliquely through the smaller sentient sapient, strange little creatures of large stature visiting, just like I am, visiting, that pass messages through the one eye watching, through grey hearts worn on sleeves that speak agape, “pluck thine eye out an eye for an eye”, it says to mine eye, “leave that for the lesser unseen beings; death visits in the Winter of most things, mostly, but it does arrive when it wants, no one tells death when it can or cannot arrive, it too speaks through others and other kinds, it could take any of your Spring, Autumn or Summer moments in its stride, but over all, it arrives shockingly unannounced, you will see, in the time when leaves fall off trees before any of your seasons are fully determined; there, that circle contained within the life of things, permanent in its perfect impermanence, imprinted, truly a circle never broken, embedded in hidden ways, in many things, the bark of a tree it makes sounds you can hear the cracking of captured souls within, if you listen closely; within each ring, moving slowly ancient stories and lives, as if bound in a timeless marriage, there between the tracks, a chapter of your story, holding the stories of others, it breathes, to breathe life back into you, it breathes, as easily as writing on paper, or dancing fingers across keys, clickety clack like a runnaway horse racing down the track, headlong into that alarmingly bright light the horn's blaring; it was written, and signed long ago, the contract; its words, now you see everywhere, like it’s written in the clouds, the sky then becomes a wall of glowing bluelight in the long dark late night, fingerprints become footprints inwards walking outwards, dispersed and encoded for the life of readers, with their hearts crossed and mind open, like their eyes, to interpret others, and the other kinds, like records music in and out of time, still living in the time after living, it is then, you unequivocally understand, the words - it's second nature baby, heaven’s in your eyes (LadyLabyrinth / 2023)
