When I open your book of life,                                                                             what do I see.                                                                                                A daddy and a man,                                                                                           sent from God just to me.                                                                            Your life before me was not all play,                                                          you worked hard for life~family and country.                                                       You were there to help with homework,                                                              then came your own style of dance lessons.                                                        Shopping was a real treat,                                                                        you would let me pick out what I really wanted.                                                                   You were the one who helped me with my pets,                                                    even going to the vets.                                                                               Naturally my skates came from you,                                                                      a huge surprise that lit up the room.                                                                   You taught me many things,                                                                     like a quitter never wins.                                                              As you got older so did I,                                     
my school alarm clock was you awaking me with hot coffee bedside.                                                                                            I remember when you handed me the car keys,                                                        you also handed me a coin.                                                                              You said,                                                                                                        put this in your shoe so you can call in an emergency.                                    
I can still see you clowning around at our wedding,                               
making me laugh on my very special day.                                                   It was hard to say good bye,                                                                   when I was moving far away.                                                              Weekly phone calls did help,                                                                     our talks would give us both some pep.                                                    
One day a call came in,                                                                         
your dad has been hurt.                                                                              A plane I needed to catch,                                                                             to get there before you were gone.                                                          Dad saying goodbye was very hard,                                                            how does one say this to their very own hero.                                                       I will not say goodbye,                                                                                 until we meet in heaven dad~my hero~my best friend.
