Poem

I'm floating in the night, on a calm emerald sea,
Basking in moonlight, her glow washing over me
But in the shallows of my existence, tears I cried,
My song rippling in the current, ebbing on the tide.

Who will hear my melody? Who will weep and sigh?
No one will find me in swells of waves, no passerby.
To an island, my journey might reach a pleasant end,
or a cascading waterfall is waiting around the bend.

I'll drift where the winds take me, for I have no care
in the direction I travel. Life's become too hard to bear.
Leave me marooned on a beach, half buried in sand,
or hoping for the sound of a voice on a foreign land.

It matters not if I should perish in a summer squall
or wash ashore on a paradise. I really don't care at all.
I'll accept that my destiny lies where trade winds blow,
as long as I can float at night beneath the moon's glow.
