Poem
There was a moment, not so long ago When my heart was rusty, Tarnished by the darkness of pain, Eroded by the doubt, the dread, Fear that erased the light of faith, Corroded the wonders, the joy With despair that can’t be absolved By tears that won’t wash away The past, the loss, the ruin – slaying Feelings, dreams, anticipation There was a moment, not so long ago When I didn’t know what it means To feel satisfied by the miracle of grace Releasing thoughts from the ache, Rousing the heart to find escape From destruction, disaster, decay Debris from the stars, fallen into a black So deep, so overwhelming that there is only Shadow to erase the moon’s breath, Silhouettes written by grief …. to burn off the spent rubble Where love had scorched and blistered In twinkles, glistening like the reflection From starlight, sunlight, moonlight Glowing from heaven, such a beautiful Sight to behold, shining hope – so calming There was a moment, not so long ago When I felt like I was haunted by the futility Of all the questions, disbelief, imperfections But now… I have found the sweetness, The miracle of an elation so alive, Pleasure so inviting – vibrant and smiling Silencing every suspicion, every worry… With a hope, a promise Brought to life by the One who gentles The shock, relieves the broken heart, Promises the weary spirit… that He can purify With His mercy and grace – love that is All knowing… all gracious – like the fire burning Away the desperate, filling the soul with Miracles, beauty, wonders that inspire me To listen to His insights, His reminders… That love is forever alive, Forever moving – a joy and a peace Like nothing we’ve ever seen… His love is the whole reason for believing In the song that leaves the soul dancing The music that lasts through the past’s questions, Encouraging the light – so alive, breathtaking His love is surely the reason for every hope, The purpose of every thought, the intention For every yearning – the wisdom that keeps my heart Believing in the One who thought me, made me… Gave to me the blessing of His love and grace, The miracle of a hope that is filled with endless faith Then I was unconvinced… Now I know He is here… The power beneath my feet, my breath, my dream He is, absolutely, the answer to my every need, The reply to each prayer I pray – the promise that I Can always say – Love will find a way – love will stay!
