Poem
A fairy born of light and joy and laughter Born of both Sun and Moon and Earth What all fairies are made of A human boy befriends her They’ve had some laughs Carved in their memories Soft and sweet Vibrant and vivid She granted him many wishes Through her spells Despite them draining her Draining her lifespan Until he selfishly clipped her wings Her life, her joy, everything she was Him exclaiming then, “I can’t fly, why should you be able to fly?” He cried but there were no regrets in his eyes after the deed was done Clip, clip Went the scissors Twice the snips, double the damage He left her Bellowing with pain in the dark, Leaving her with a naked back bleeding One full moon later, A letter sent and received Begging for her forgiveness Exclaiming that he would change The fairy fluttered her newly grown wings Sighing Still doubtful Yet accepted Flying down to greet the human boy His eyes still caught sight of her glittery back She could say he did his best Until he tried to make the jump Blind in the dark Blind to the light and good Dragging everything to the shadows No light ever escaping his grasp He asked her to give up her wings To live with him as a human forever Never listening, never accepting Of her, of her in entirety She said no Thinking back now, she would chitter, Laughing, she knew it would come to this At least, this time, she wasn’t crying She was free Flying away from his scissors His bottomless black hole Looking back at his standing figure, She cast one last spell for him Wishing of his happiness and the strength of finding himself As he is the only one who can Save himself from himself
