Poem

I think that I shall never see, a stranger bird with a pedigree 
Receiving his reward for shame and greed 
Then tared and feathered and tied to a tree  
Old Rip Schneider’s deeds of shame 
Shattered hearts and pillaged brains  
Squalling women, broom and pan                                                                                      
Old Cowboys ropes in hands
Send him packing like a drowned Quail
Tar his hide and watch him frail
“What’ll I care,” his curses vile.
A Red Headed Woodpecker with the head of an Owl.
“Should we saddle the old gray mare?”
“Ride him backwards, tar his hair.”
The only answered yelled so plan,
“He’s tarred and feathered, put him on the train.”
Wheels clanking on rails of steel, passing farm and over hill.
Ole Rip smelling like a buzzard’s roost’                                                                                           shaking his wings from the back of the caboose.
Peering through slits in feathered eyes,
Blooming plumb on his rear-end side
Stories of his dirty deeds told in town under trees
Dare he ever show his face, a strutting turkey in full disgrace
What better reward for greed and shame, 
than tarred and feathered and put on the train?
