Poem

I've met her at a party 
and I was charmed by her beauty;
her dazzling purity 
was like a drowse of ecstasy. 

I watched her dance with crowd around her;
my drunken soul became sober.
It was my first time, I could remember; 
it was a cold night of November.

I couldn't forget her since then,
for my heart was deeply smitten. 
But oh Lord, what a shame! 
I forgot to ask her name. 

So I waited for that chance
to once again see her glance. 
At the same place where we've met, 
I've waited seriously like a patient. 

Then one night, she came again, 
and I was lit like a fountain. 
We danced all night, but what a shame, 
I still forgot to ask her name. 

So I went home with laying shoulder.
My mind was filled with thoughts of her. 
To my shock, she was there
hugging with my drunkard uncle. 

It took me time to process the news 
like the IRS charged my dues. 
For to my shock once again, 
the fine maiden was my long lost cousin. 

My feelings for her died that day,
though I still hope and pray 
that one day, someone like her
will light to flame my dying ember.
