Poem
Oh boy I am so coy I once thought Skating perilously round and round an icerink floor trying ever so hard not to fall Just incase i make other people laugh and have a joke at my expense Been there done that a million times before no need to back there again of that I'm sure So what's the point what am I doing here after all I don't even like to skate or be cold Maybe I just like doing things I am not cut out to do So I can be the 1st to say today was just 1 of those days I often get to name a few and damnit curse my rotten luck But at least the view from down here is crystal clear perfect weather to fly away from here or have a cocktail outside on a pavement cafe And slowly watch the time slip away and people pass me by almost as if I was the invisible man Then finally head off home to take a shower or a bath to warm my insides up Then go to bed safe in the knowledge knowing I have 1 day to deal with less than yesterday Best put my skates on then hadn't I as time is surely running out for me to master the clarinet in time for fall When I am due to play the darling bud's of may to tea cups in central park for an audience of one Either way I've marked the date out in my diary and mean to be here come what may Unless life somehow gets in the way and has other plans in store for me well that's also ok fine by me Because I don't think in all honesty they had any intention of coming anyway As people say oh so many things without ever meaning a single word of them Simply passing pleasantries off to pretend they care and leave you hanging thinking they actually meant to call you back Something's in life are really best and should be kept left unsaid Some sentences neither begun lest finished Until the dead are finally laid to rest and painful memories of the departed gone away as well and taken with them As so tonight come strike of 12 o'clock a brand new day may begin and we can all start a fresh once more Until 1 minute past 12 o'clock comes around and all the previous shine and hope starts wearing the gloss off And then reality kick's back in and begins to bite with it's endless sharpened lock jaw clenching jagged teeth And so begins another matinee show regarding life's day to day average everyday But rather catch the evening show it's easier to swallow in the dark with a stiff drink in tow to soften the blow
