White flag By Michelle Morris 31/08/2022 I see no peace on the battlefield No white flag on the horizon We are separated from our brothers By lines drawn on a map All the tanks and gunfire Explosions and fire and noise It hardens our hearts, and Makes us forget that we are human The beautiful sunflowers of my homeland They are dying in the heat This hell that we have put upon Our families and sacred fields And these men who sit in their towers Like overlords who have no reality They let men die without dignity Sacrificing blood and bone for power Oh, the greedy gods of war The demons from Hell's worst circles They all applaud how these kingdoms fall As the darkness descends upon mankind For every war that is waged Is a battle for us all We are interconnected And our collective souls are at risk Our souls drift on silver threads In this Universe so vast Ever expanding our range For we are meant to last We are meant to be expansive Not made smaller by war and strife We are meant to make this a Heaven Rather than a Hell for demonic delights The wrath and greed of men It is the undoing of us all Their desire to overcome So much power to control They have not yet learned That the greatest power of all Is power over oneself And to build rather than destroy Self love is the beginning To build a better man To love others too Is all part of the divine plan For peace in the hearts of men Leads to peace in the hearts of warriors And then there will be no need For guns and bloody warfare I see the hope of peace in fields Where battles no longer rage I see sunflowers bloom again They turn their faces to the sun And all will be right with the world If we can spread love and peace If we can embrace hope and faith And set white flags up permanently © Michelle Morris, 2022
