Even the Shield of the Seraphim, a spell, Dr. Strange can summon, as a protective barrier against mystic and physical threats: reflecting negative energy away and reducing aggressive impacts, could not be summoned in time to save Dr. Stephen Strange; as the doctor was off guard and lay dead with a dagger to his heart, in his home, Sanctum Sanctorum, in Greenwich Village, New York City. But, you need some background to understand . . . Dr. Strange was a brilliant, egotistical and arrogant Neurosurgeon, but his hands were injured in a car accident resulting with nerve damage: unable to accept his fate, he searched the world for alternate healing, which led him to the Ancient One, the Sorcerer Supreme who teaches him; he soon learns mystical and martial arts and acquires powerful spells, and in time he assumes the title of Sorcerer Supreme to protect earth. He moves into Sanctum Sanctorum with his valet and friend Wong, defending the world using his spells like the Eye of Agamotto amulet: the Cloak of Levitation, the rings of flames, along with other weapons, and the Shield of the Seraphim spell a protective barrier against threats; even his crystal ball the Orb of Agamotto could not help Dr. Strange, or the vast Book of Vishanti, none of these could save him that day. It had been a strange day, starting with his immortal dog Bats, who wanted to go on walkies, then Dr. Strange had to do surgery: yes, he was a surgeon again, then hearing screams he was need, he solved that problem and went to Strange Academy to teach children; but was called away by odd things and creatures seeking children's souls. Later, the doctor was alone in the mansion, Wong is at his art class, Bats is out playing chess when there is a loud knock on the door: Dr. Strange was tired, rumpled and not ready for the overwhelming attack, his last thought, "I just don't want to die alone," and then it was done, he is found by his friends dead, rest in peace Stephen Strange But, no worries Dr. Strange comes back to life only to die again, and again and again over and over in future Marvel comic books ! ______________________ August 20, 2022 Poetry/Verse/The Death of Doctor Strange Copyright Protected, ID 08-1482-345-20 All Rights Reserved, 2022, Constance La France Written for the Premiere contests, Dr. Strange Spells sponsor, Robert James Liguori, Judged 09/03/2022 Second Place
