green dress and blue crown,
All year round

oyilatam, thapatam & karagatam

The trinity of carnatic music 
were born here in Thiruvarur
Written and composed songs eternal;
Our indigenous nattu pura folk songs 
will mesmermise and touch souls

We own Thirukkural, penned by Thiruvalluvar  
some thousands of years ago, 
these 1330 couplets of 7 words, still glow; 
Translated into many languages
