Poem
I came from hope, faith and love There was a twinkle in my Granny’s eyes A gentleness in my Mama’s smile Genius in the family who survived On the promise of a grace that abides I came from seekers, believers There was wisdom in their favor A silence that whispered freedom Listening for the words that embraced Away each heartbreak, each shadow I came from colors, vibrant and bold, Feelings so alive they were laughing, savoring Each emotion, every sparkle of a tear Each smile, every giggle, even the prayers Fading into the comforting rhythm of raindrops I came from pleas for direction, correction From promises in scriptures, read by minds Who were tempted and tried, revealing truths Inspiring all the wonder inside, the beauty Kindness that would never betray the soul I came from risking dreams so that joy might be Shimmering like the stardust sighs, singing Mystery, caressing hearts with sensitivity Blessing wishes, ambitions, aspirations who plead For the chance to bring peace to every belief I came from owning my ideas, seeing reality As the time when I would give back to society Pieces of light, reflecting, amazed and gazing Like the sun and moon, wonderful and beautiful Thriving with a sense of assurance, abiding sagacity I came from the heart of a mountain family Who worked and smiled and decided that life Is a rich and vibrant hue of silent flourishing Blooms like roses opening to the wonders of light Pouring out over their delicate, dewy insight I came from people who know that real love Doesn’t come from romantic confrontations, Material blessings or some important title – It doesn’t survive the darkness because of desire And it isn’t inspired by fading external beauty! REAL LOVE comes from being filled with HIM The ONE who died on a cross because of sin … and gave each of us the chance to believe … so our spirits would forever live In the presence of a Savior who assures us we can give… Back to this world – the assurance of HIM!
