Pirates Remember In the days of old, the ships were bold, and went anywhere they pleased. They were men, hard men, real men... released from the burdens of mud on their shoes, traded in favor of swimming with the sirens barefoot, at the very real risk of losing their souls. Treasures of cold... gold, in the far south sea, located under the ice, where death is a price... where the living die, and those that die live in the darkness forever. That is what the stories told, again and again, as they grew old. One... Captain Maron... scoffed at the words, of all the legends to date. He only entertained the lady of greed that fed his foul heart with need, to feed his own ambitions. Maron would risk anything, including his ship and men to claim the prize and defy fate... at her highest point. Captain Maron... The tall ship Amy Lynn was filled to the brim with supplies. They cast off from the harbor, among so many eyes. There were whispers and signs, made in the air, to scare both those leaving and those left behind. The sails filled and the Amy Lynn went south. She sailed full tilt as if driven by sea dogs, and pulled along by dolphins... black and white in color. The days went by quickly... the nights lingered. They became full of sounds unknown. The crew were unhappy, but none said a word.. for fear they would be heard, by the Captain of ship. The weather went from brisk to cold, and then ice appeared in the water. Great cubes and platforms a man could walk upon, one next to another, unstable, but inviting. There were no signs of life here, other than their own. There were no colors, save those of the grim reaper, seeped in gray, and black ink. The ocean calmed. The night came. The stars... were blotted out, one after one, and another. They had come to the edge and it was fear or faith, to stare over the bow of the ship. How had they stopped time, and gained immortality for only a heartbeat, not to be afraid but, to be terrified of not living. The golden lesson a value measured only by the need, of the many, to teach the few. Captain Maron... On his knees came to see, the wisdom of knowing your worth. The idea of being more important than his brothers, traded for his personal gain, left him to feed the monster alone. The rest were spared that day, and sent right on their way. Their minds lost or scared of the memory, too frightened to recall it upon their return to harbor... Captain Maron, no longer with them, having leapt into the water... a hero by action alone.
