Poem

i soar in the thought of you
lost in thermals
free from every drop of gravity
where clouds dance free
wings spread in a balance
tipped at times
bent in flight guiding me
a swoop here, banking there
lost in you
then the lyncean catches a shadow
movement below these thoughts of you
the wings fold back
wind whistles against me
my claws obey an innermost desire
open and deadly lethal
there is no greater desire
then the one now consuming me
a berserker uncontrollable
shaken from the thoughts of you
now, enfolded in my arms
there is no escape
i must have your lips
you had fair warning
we were a newness then
it was in the grocery store
standing in the checkout line
i took your hand and began to sing

i can hardly carry a tune matters little
i knew how to steal your heart
leaping newness from the nest
these wings would be yours forevermore
chances were more than awfully good
love has its deepest depths
when there are moments rare
when the patina is shattered
and its sweetness flows again
in those hearts that discovered
a spur of moment reminding
lifes' wonderous gift
i stole these lines
but i stole them for you
from the depths of love
where i wear a silly grin
when you enter the room
i am impervious to life's frailties
because i command rare moments
when i am with you
in the land of The Twelfth of Never
where poets are empty of rhyme
we will have escaped into eternity
where rare is in every breath
and poets never need a rhyme
