Poem

In one moment it all changes
In every part of me
It grabs hold of my whole being
This powerful enemy

No warning does it give me
No time to prepare
Within seconds it has seized me
Within seconds it is just there

Intense fear consumes my being
Takes total control
Quickly dragging me down
That horrifying dark hole

Breathing is now difficult
My head heavy and tight
Legs that can’t move at all
My body is not right

My heart pumps quickly
I hear it’s every beat
My body is entirely out of control
From my head to my feet

I sense I am going to faint
Collapse to the floor
I am completely terrified 
My body can’t withstand anymore

I feel my life is ending 
My time to depart is here
I can no longer fight the fight
Of this debilitating fear

Help... I feel I am dying
I am controlled by all consuming dread
Terror occupies both body and soul
I feel soon I will be dead…

Again it finally passes until the next time
When pure panic captures my being
Without warning
Without sign…..
