Poem
What once was a peaceful delightful place Joyful and friendly creatures in God’s grace A stunning morning a soulful sunrise A village heaven has gifted a prize The most grandiose of rainbow arches The villagers spirited because March is The time for pleasant picnics by the rill Fishing for mackerel over the hill But then suddenly much to their surprise Something lurks beyond fearing their demise Peering through branches of an apple tree Hides a reptilian, set loose set free The happy ones, stood only one feet tall Young and old, all for one and one for all Rising, chanting and ready now to face Whatever it is that threatens their place Eyes wide, languid, bulging green with envy It sickens her their gaiety, their bravery She wrenched herself free from one prickly elf Lurched up and away and said to herself Pathetic ne’er do wells ha, I’ll show you! As your queen, now forget all you once knew As she smiled with demonic delight Plucked an apple, with jaws wide took a bite Then with her fingers splayed out before her Strokes the top of a cage strapped with leather Inside the cage a snake hissing, coiling Petraiota she whispers toiling Her rattler a pit viper diamondback My sweet Petra I have your rabbit snack They scurry off into eastern woodlands Patiently await their leader's commands The villigites camping out waiting near No more fun…no more frivolity…hear! No more enlightenment hear me fools! No individualism and no more schools! Several days and nights, whining ensues The voice echoed through walls over the land A thunderous voice, went on and on, and on, yapping out laws too bizarre for them She condemns as she rages spewing phlegm Make an appearance! Show yourself mammoth! To display harm on this day of Sabbath A villager yells come out! I demand! It gives him chills, the hair on his arm stand Next he espies a she-devil tree high Frightened the villagers freeze, petrified She must be five feet ten! Wait! keep your hide! Arms folded, head tilted, her lips pressed tight The villagers stay in spite, intense fright I‘m in control now, I will crush you and what I say goes, I assure you, it stands If you annoy me, I’ll let Petra loose! Most venomous you’ll 'ov wished for a noose Giant hands and feet, a freak of nature Abomination of Norse literature Her words hammered into them as they swayed Fear of being crushed, bitten, they obeyed Mirmantha is the name given to her Like a sea creature slimy and slender We must follow then one interrupted Programed to hate each other, corrupted But all along creatures of the night watched Saw how the other one's plans were blotched Hiding in places where night creatures hide Plans to rid Mirmantha, stand at high tide The serpent to mate with Petra is strong A net and a ribbed canoe six feet long The creatures of the night have succeeded! Creatures of the night, were all they needed Mirmantha is trapped and rowed far away Night creatures will be remembered on this day Without Petra her once dangerous snake No longer mayhem and make no mistake Now deprogramed and happy once again Good riddance sung, mean-spirited titan
