Poem
And a good morning to you.Today I have a lot to get done so will concentrate on telling you about Lorsie which was the name I called her. If I get my chores done we will talk later tonight. Lorsie had always been soft.Soft in tone, soft in spirit. She can be matter of fact when necessary but always Softly. When I nearly cut three fingers off when I was four she would bring me sewing cards home from the Woolworth store where she worked. This was for physical therapy as I never saw a Dr. I bet they had a heck of a time keeping me in bed so it would heal without risk of infection.I actually remember this confinement and am restless to this day just thinking about it.She also would bring me and Podie candy lipsticks and necklaces. You could wear them. You could eat them.We would gnaw them down till the last candy bead became a Solitary pendant. She is 14 years my senior. She was about that age when she told my mom We might could have something if you guys would Stop having kids!My mom's reply?Point out the one you would have me knock in the head.No takers? Alright then! The story goes the first time my dad was going to graduate from spatty spat to the beat down on Lorsie she puked on his shoes. She was just too delicate for this.I remember when she started courting.A handsome young man who moved here from the Ozarks. He would come and see her down at the log house .We all loved her beau.He seemed to really like us.Well almost all Of us.I think my dad was trying to put the brakes On it.I saw him blow his nose in his hand out in the yard and sling it right onto the sweet beau's pant leg.My mom got on to him for cramming whole biscuits into his mouth at dinner with said intended. It didn't embarrass Lorsie though.I am telling you her Daddy could do no wrong. As I said We liked her honey Harold fine till we realized he was taking Lorsie away. The next time he came to see her we rocked his car.Dad didn't take part but trust me he was there in spirit. My dad had lunch at her house everyday Monday thru Friday when she got married.Sis he called her.Sis your burning the onions in those potatoes your frying.Harold likes them that way she would softly say.Sweet honey came first as it should be. I don't begrudge the relationship she had with dad.I just wish all his children could have had same.Especially the other girls as I can see how it played out in their romantic choices.I myself was married to an abusive man for nearly nine years. It somehow felt familiar.Wonder why?
