Poem

A little old lady named Judy,
Felt strongly that it was her duty,
To cook, clean and garden,
Walk the dog and then drive on,
To town where she was needed truly.

Seemed there always was more to do,
And her husband said he needed her too.
Make his meals, mend his socks,
Rub his back, trim his locks,
In her spare time could she shine his shoes.

Judy was getting gray hair.
And finally said she didn't care.
Said she'd do what she could,
It must be understood,
He expected too much it ain't fair.

Getting ready for work one night,
She reached out to turn on the light,
When to her despair,
Tripped and fell down the stair.
Broke her hip as she fell down the flight.

It took her some time to mend,
And without her things just didn't blend.
The chores seemed to pile up,
While the lady was laid up.
They took care of themselves in the end.

Now first she cares for herself.
If there's time she will gladly lend help.
To all things there's a limit,
And there's just no good in it,
To put too much ahead of yourself.
