I was sitting in school when 
it happened
But I didn't know, not then
I was driving home from school when
Police were breaking down the door
But I didn't know, not then
I was opening my notifications
when parents were being called
being told
that their little angels would never come home

They should have written about

Are being told that
their angels were shot out of the sky
they were going to school
on a day like any other
They were excited
for the sleepover that night
nervous for the book report
angry at their siblings
Then the 2 teachers,
who were bored with lesson plans
when they should have been teaching math
like a normal day
throwing themselves in front of children
and here I am
sitting at home
on a normal day
I hope
those 19 children
and 2 adults
are reading this
in heaven somewhere
