 two roundels
to commemorate the US National Day of Prayer, May 5, 2022 
Theme:  Exalt the Lord Who Has Established Us


Behold, Christ stands, forgiving sin.
Walk with Him -  exalt our Savior -
Hallow Him with thanks freely giv’n.
    Behold, Christ stands.

The world's words leave us in chagrin,
wretched, futile in its allure.
When God’s Spirit abides within  
Jesus can establish -  secure
what comments can leave in tailspin.
Render true gold, refined, made pure.
    Behold, Christ stands.


Thanks be to God,  worthy of praise
in Him is all knowledge - wisdom
Unto His insights, all hands raise.
    Thanks be to God.

Upon our knees, in prayer we gaze
at His great mystery wherefrom
He sent His Son.  He sets ablaze
our hearts’ devotion to succumb
to suffering, standing amazed
at God’s power to overcome.
    Thanks be to God.

To some, a single National Day of Prayer seems trivial.  I do not see it as such; I pray every day and trust the Almighty God of the the Universe to work all things to the good of those that love and reverence His name.
