Anti-anxiety Poem Author: Shawn Wilkinson 2022 Are you feeling lonely and shattered? Have you lost the key to your heart? Trapped by the Darkness Suffering feeling of Isolation Imagine feeling locked inside a locker of hell. Torment without end Help me Lord! Help me break Free! Because I can’t even find my own key! I’ve closed my own door to the spirit I’ve thrown away my own key I have lost control of my life, Now I stuck inside this shrinking darkness. I’m smothered by rebreathing of air, My legs begin to tremble without rest. I’m standing here in darkness, Wandering if there is hope of being found and saved? Anxiety, gets to win, as I turmoil in my own sin, Locked into darkness My breaths are measured in toil. Constricted by time, constricted in my mind and soul But, I forgot I’ve got a friend in Jesus His light is mine to share He can break my locks of darkness, He can break my chains of fear.. Send your holy spirit to my soul, as I ask with my lips Send your holy spirit to my whole.. Please, Open my lock of hardness Open the lock, for I lost my own key Insecurity in the constricting darkness, Unsure of my demise I hear the lock turning The key, he holds, rattles my soul. I’m once more freely breathing, fresh air I’m once more with others Caring, and loving and accepting of me Feeling helping hands of kindness My needs are now few, my burden now lifted As I may now help others on a journey to the throne My mind recovers from the turmoil My lungs can now freely expand Awoken from my dream, God’s thoughts still remain on me. A deeper breathe in bed, easily taken A concern for my past thoughts Let me reassure you friend, Your fears can now be laid to rest It’s going to be all right now, I’m reassured with a prayer in the dark of night I lift my eyes to our lord as for interpretation of dreams He ask… Is your heart closed to me? Have you thrown away the key? Are you locked into your own box of hell? There is more to see… A whole world of loving all creatures in my world to see Be offering kindness to the least of these Can’t you see your offering those things to me? So, sooth others in their own darkness And, Sooth others in their pain You have the control to decide You have the key to turn You have a duty to preform Drop the mic… Thanks God!
