Poem
I've dreamed of something special for quite some time, a vacation I've envisioned that would be simply sublime. I'll be leaving from Miami on a round-the-world cruise and I reserved a balcony room to enjoy the scenic views. I'll sail upon many seas, those both far away and near because my dream vacation will last for an entire year! Each morning l will awaken in a harbor I've never seen, starting in the Caribbean Sea and its waters, aquamarine. Visiting St. Thomas, I'll swim in waters of Megan's Bay, sipping Bahama Mamas, then I'll dance the night away. The Atlantic will take a few days to cross, but that's fine. Each night will be a tasty feast and the most divine wine. I'll think of Casablanca as I dock on Moroccan shores, heading out for the sights and sounds on several tours. Through Gibraltar's Strait, into the Mediterranean Sea. How I dream of stopping at Marseille, and on to Sicily. For ancient cities filled with treasures of Grecian urns. My heart longs to walk among ruins, oh how it yearns. To sail along in the wake of Odysseus would be great, if only this dream could come true, I'd revel in my fate. Sail the coast of Africa, around the Cape of Good Hope. Everything is wonderful! No regrets or reason to mope. Ahead lies the Indian Ocean and then the Arabian Sea. Paradise is straight ahead. There's no turning back for me. Several days spent in the Sunda Islands, Sumatra... Borneo So many exotic places to visit where lush rain forests grow. I could've stayed another week or two, but the sea calls me. Australia, New Zealand and New Guinea, in the Tasman Sea. On to Far Eastern regions where cherry blossoms bloom. I'll have tea, wearing a lovely Japanese kimono costume. That's as far North on this adventure that my ship will go. Twelve months are passing by. I wish the time would slow. My dream will continue as I head back to my U. S. home and next year I will dream of new lands where I must roam. I'm planning to see the fjords and wavering Northern Lights, Canada and Iceland where I'll climb to mountainous heights. On a South American journey, from my balcony I'll be toasting, looking forward to a luau. eating poi and pork that was roasting. In the Hawaiian Isles I'll learn to move my hips in a Hula dance. Perhaps my dream vacation will find me having a new romance. March 28, 2022 My Dream Vacation Contest Sponsored by: Milt Hankins
