Easter is a joyful celebration ...
    of the resurrection of Jesus ... on the third day
      after his death from his burial tomb
        following his brutal crucifixtion
   by the Romans
was the climax of a remarkable life on earth

      ~  because Jesus claimed to be the son of God
he was sentenced to die by crucifixtion 
      to cheers by the crowd gathered  ~ 

             Easter is celebrated on Sunday April 17
     ... following Good Friday
the day Jesus died on the cross
God raised Jesus glorious and immortal
                and it is fitting that it happens
in Springtime a season of new life and rebirth

~  after his death his body was taken down from
          the cross and placed in a tomb cave and 
at the entrance an enormous stone was placed
              guarded by Roman soldiers ~

I was brought up Roman Catholic
       and Good Friday was always a day of mourning
           for Jesus, his suffering and death
      but Easter Sunday was a celebration of his 
        resurrection and his rising to Heaven
      it is a celebration of hope  ...  and salvation
the defeat of "death" ...  our home was full of lilies
            (and I always got a new Spring dress )

          ~  the stone had been moved and the cave empty
but Jesus was seen  ... for 40 days he stayed on earth
        then he ascended up above the clouds
... to Heaven .. but he is always with us
               just reach out in prayer  ~
