Poem
"You're lucky to have a daughter like her" No she was not lucky She alone knows the number of ribs her body broke over the years She alone knows the amount of water her skin pores shed She alone knows the degree of burns her single heart hugged in secret. Her daughter is the result of her sacrificed life. "You're lucky to have graduated with excellent grades". No, she was not lucky. She alone knows the pain of missing classes for not clearing the dues. She alone knows how she managed her sore bruises while writing the tests. She alone knows how she bore the weight of humiliation, waiting for the day to show her worth. Her graduation is the result of her endurance. "You're lucky to have gone to such a big school" No, she was not lucky. She alone knows how many unwanted hours she spent drilling in the boarding school. She alone felt the magnitude of loneliness, when no one clapped for her, in that big school. She alone knows the bulk of barrenness around her in the crowded PTA room. Her big-school education is the pathway to her forthcoming. "You're lucky to get an encouraging boss" No, she was not lucky. She alone experienced the grave insult of being kicked out of the first project. She alone gulped the pain of losing her work credits to others. She got her own face smeared with soil before she could grow saplings out of it. Her now successful career is the outcome of crossing countless checks. "You're lucky to have an understanding partner". No, she was not lucky. She alone knows the quantum of struggle put into quelling trust issues. She alone can tell how many summers she sweated out to let things fall in place. She had to taste the awfulness in fulfilling her so-called unusual demand. Her now happy relationship is the resultant strive of both parties. You might relish juicy mangoes one day, after growing a mango orchard with will and gay. If I say that it's all because of your luck, Every single effort you put will remain dumb-struck. Nothing in life comes by luck. Nothing in life rests on good or bad times. Nothing in life dances to the tunes of stars and planets. Nothing in life is offered to you on silver plate. Don't say they're lucky, Say they're deserving. Say they're unflagging. Say they're equanimous. Say they're worthy. Because one day, you might not like listening to what you once said.
