Why is the forgiveness of Jesus Christ sufficient for us? Because when Jesus Christ first cleanses our sins and forgives us of all of our unrighteous! It is sufficient enough that He has forgiven us! I used to believe that I also had to forgive myself as well! But recently, I have abruptly changed my mind because of Christian television! For if I believe I have to also forgive myself? I am not telling Jesus Christ that I have accepted His forgiveness for myself! But yes we still have to also forgive others who have trespassed against us! Jesus Christ is our God in charge of our restorations of our broken relationships! But what relationships need to be forgiven but not restored? The first example that comes to my mind is in the growing trend of Domestic Violence! In the past pastors have told abused women not only to forgive their abusive husbands! But enter back into those harmful and deter-mental relationships! Resulting in serious injuries and even physical deaths! Can such restitution take place? Only if the abusive spouse also becomes rehabilitated and also a born-again Christian! Because sometimes Jesus Christ restores those broken and abusive relationships! If He does not restore them, they are not meant to be restored in the first place! Some pastors used to preach that a woman's husband wants her to buy him beer? She should tell the clerk that she is buying the beer for her husband because he wants her to and not because she wants to! But there is also a doctrine that she should obey God and not her husband! In that doctrine! My Black Friday afternoon's Bible Study Lady, Jean told me! "She should tell her husband to buy his own beer!" Instead of her having to do it! She also told me the word submissive does not mean the word sub-servant. It means responsive to her husband instead! Husbands have been using that erroneous non-Biblical doctrine to beat and abuse their wives! I have had former Baptist pastors who believe that such physical abuse instantaneously dissolves a broken marriage! Yes she can forgive her husband but that does not mean that she has to put up with his abuse and live with him! Child abuse and sexual abuse has the same rules and the same game plan. Children also have to seek sanctuary from their abusers and maybe their own families as well! The sanctuary they really need is Jesus Christ, Himself! Both are also forgivable sins! The only unforgivable sin is against the Holy Spirit! Roxanne Lea Dubarry January 28, 2022
