God’s Poetry ‘VS’ Christ’s Grace Is ‘poetry’ just prejudice, the garbage that we buy, a honey all tongues wired for (or Life’s Water for Christ’s loved), (1) just pretty words our ego threads (or balm that heals the soul)? “Mein Kampf” (2) for some’s the gospel truth, for others, it’s ‘hate speech!’ But Bible’s fans have killed folks too! Is ‘Hell’ the thought, “I’m right?” Humility’s the poetry that helps Love stand its ground, our sharing with the living, hints, Love’s Living Word’s (3) around. Man’s labor brings his daily bread! Our’s manna from the sky? To struggle hints of jealousy (your neighbor’s hands are gloved, and you would like to ‘borrow’ them?) Well, make new gloves your goal! Some compromise, perhaps, gets made? But surely they’re in reach? Did neighbor’s gloves take sacrifice? Much pain is just sin’s plight! I doubt that God has preferences between Rhymed Verse and Free, such choices don’t frame life and death. My poetry’s just me. The prose of God is ‘flow,’ it seems, its gravity’s no crime. His poetry tops beggar’s bowls with Grace (curves space and time). All mass can own wave’s tricks; waves own momentum (“Mom! No mass!) God rhymes the two as ‘wavicles,’ diffuse clouds “sting like bees.” (1) His rainbows bend to raindrop’s rules till earth blocks half their arc. Most galaxies accelerate away from us, who’d guess! Where’s evidence collapse has cards in deck most thought in place? God’s mind sees way beyond my ken, Christ’s Grace a fool can grok! Why complicate what Grace looks like? I pray Grace fills my sock on Christmas eve! I‘ve touched my sin’s cold depth! Lord, I’ve skipped class! I pray I don’t confuse (so sad) Christ’s forest with man’s trees. Yet, even on best days, it’s Christ alone who meets God’s mark! What mortal man might dare to dream approaching Christ’s largesse? And yet, by Christ, life’s dregs will see a smile light up God’s face. Brian Johnston 26th of January in 2022
