Poem
As an earth bound entity Encased in this organic form That decays moment to moment Bewildered by illusion, thus in delusion We are asked to repent and believe That we may return to God’s fold Wherefrom we strayed away Termed as fall from grace As an agnostic we pause Evaluating this religious call Allowing that it is well intentioned With several commandments listed As signposts we would do well to follow Yet to be true to our heart we question This proposition proclaiming guilt Wherein as a sinner we atone The sins of Adam and Eve No, it does not resonate So we look at other isms Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism Oh, they all talk of love and truth Yet each path demands blind faith But is faith strong without realisation For is it not yet but a thought construct So how can we use mind to go beyond mind It is clear we cannot thus choose stillness Resting thought flow in tranquil silence Whereupon ego recedes being unfed Then that that remains is pure love Being God’s energy now manifest Felt vividly as bliss magnetism Pervading each pore of form Transmuting consciousness In time recognition dawns That we are soul in mind-body Our soul being but God-essence Inseparable from the That oneness Thus our ‘sin’ being separation from God Free will choosing to conjure a false ego self With ‘repentance’ being recognition of the truth That identification with this body is delusion Our ignorance due to this self-hypnosis Wherein we form earthy attachments Orbited by fear and desire spirals Anchoring us in the darkness Oblivious to God within Now we understand the Word Yet wisdom must replace knowing Upon being connected with Holy Spirit Called by different names across the world Prana, Shakti, Kundalini, it’s the current divine Blurring boundaries between what we call ‘I’ and That Mind games cease as we vaporise as a bliss mist Consciousness expands centred everywhere Directly seeing that God in-dwells all forms Including us of course, oh worthy lama So it’s a a game of union and separation By the creation of duality and polarity Wherein soul breaks away from God Feels harsh contrast and anguish With momentary joy thrown in Until reaching point of exhaustion Or which we may term as repentance When we see and so believe in God again Knowing ourself to be one with Him in fullness So we surrender and meld with the flow Free from sin, free of guilt, in childlike trust Looking back wonder, why it’s made so complex For it is at end of days, a journey without movement Requiring but cessation of thought that feeds ego Our emptiness then suffused with bliss thunder Felt within in physical reality (where else?) As we simply let go of, to get to, God It’s all within 20-January-2022
