18.4 “The universe is but a thought in Consciousness In Reality it is nothing One who sees the true nature of existence and non-existence never ceases to exist” Contemplation level-1 Is it so? Poof! Gone! A bubble of illusion Appearing and disappearing in our consciousness Our repeated reincarnations then too must be delusion A masterful mirage we believe real being under hypnosis Existence & non existence ... what do these words convey Other than challenging our intellect Whether valid or not at this juncture what can we say Other than that the hypothesis seems suspect But this is the Ashtavakra Gita and Ramana too says it is true So what should we do ... shall we then discard our honesty Joining the herd in applause even though we have no clue Or do we reject the proposition as being not our felt reality We sleep we rise and the world is as it was There is as we see it a synchronous continuity to life And while we may be unaware of the root cause We do feel as real the pain when cut by a knife Even when in deep meditation When thoughts and senses pause We may experience the void or image manifestations Yet upon returning the world resurfaces as it was So at best we can accept that what appears and disappears is our attention Where it is at any moment depends upon its resonation To chosen vibration This hypothesis too being merely a suggestion ~~~ Contemplation level 2 Recognising that everything is vibration Matter being but energy crystallised All that is transient being a manifestation That by mind is measured and sized What is that which neither comes nor goes Within everything but affected by nothing Enigmatic space without which nothing shows The screen upon which we see images shifting That that is beyond the mind How may we realise Unless thoughts & senses we leave behind So say sages wise (22-August-2019) ~~~ Verse 18.4 revisited on 29-December-2021 We look not askance At consciousness in trance For unless subject and object merge We experience not in fullness the bliss surge However when our attention is distilled Voids within with God’s love filled There remains no separation In single pointed attention Our consciousness expands Higher mind instantly understands That the universe is contained within us All of creation but thoughts of love and animus A dream world manifest by heart’s desire Once cravings consigned to the pyre All that is, is God consciousness Absolute non-dual awareness
