RE:  Shell’s ‘seismic survey' on the Wild Coast

A voice for the sentient creatures of the ocean:
It is hoped that the following poem will reach the right audience, namely, humans who care for other sentient beings.  Hopefully this audience will include the decision-makers of Government who hold the future of our environments in their hands.

My seismic death

I swam along the ocean tides
My life was safe and free
My youngest swam along my side
A baby of the sea

We fed upon the smaller fish
A balanced nature thrived
My only goal and lifelong wish
Was that my calf survived

One day a shadow swam above
It blocked the light from Sun
My baby sang her song with love
and played a shadow-game in fun

I never knew that waters could explode
In all my decades, this was new
The vibrations hurt my auditory nodes
My calf no longer in my view

It happened we were close to shore
I woke upon the sand
Ahead of me, upon beach floor
My calf lays dead upon the land

I know not if it’s injury, 
or overwhelming grief,
but I lost all forms of energy
and flashed back on our lives in the reef

The human kind then ran towards,
and I just simply cried
“I hope it’s worth all their rewards”
I thought, before I died.
