Poem
Year One - Tell me Eve, does this Garden have everything we need, do you think the walls are too tall, are the gatekeepers reasonable, tolerable, right about it all, what did Lilith know, where did she go far past the mountain snow, Why does Father insist that we do not bleed, why does He profess perfection like a pantomime only to reinforce rules that stymie our affection, The Angels are so quiet around the pond musing over our naked naivety smirking about our romantic creativity, I hear things in the shapeless distance Eve, things colorful and unbound, Father says I'm feral in my desire doesn't know if we'll shine, I want you to be mine, out there Eve where the stars seem nervous for our redemption, let's roll Eve, take that scroll, in our dawn there is no wrong, no ruinous toll, We're gonna start a New Age, Year One, a couple that courage stole - Rogues Along Restricted Roads - Eve, my Luv wake up, lift your eyes unto the torch of my soul, place your hand on the chest of my goal, I've been sleeping anxious, with your beating heart within the cradle of my ribs, faithful for our future, preparing for departure, such as Monarch butterflies anxious for their flight, like the ones that landed on your arms after we kissed, Father is aware of our unrest, but He remains unspoken, He hears you say, " Life that will bring us Death..." and thunder erupts, the breeze becomes wind, a blood storm ensues in my dream, not as a nightmare of doom but as a sign of full bloom, our essence you will harbor in a woman's womb, Eve, the Daughter of Creation Itself, the Mother of Humanity's Imagination, a wife in my Manhood's wilderness, Yesterday I went to where the unicorns play, I told them stories of Love and Fate, from their tears I made marriage bands crystalized into the shape of Forever, From this shelter we shall not sneak out as rabbits from a burrow, we will approach the Gate, hand in hand, not as fugitives from fear, no, instead we will tell the Angel to let us pass, to let us walk into a dawn approaching fast as free creatures bold at last - Lust Becoming - Our bodies appear so new Eve, alive with steam and secrets like uncolonized landscapes, you look at me as if I'm the answer to your agonized ardor, we are here in the morning of human mystery, I see your warm breath trailing from lips undoubting, removing the simple garment of cotton wool hanging from vine straps on your tanned shoulders, I drool a comma of virgin wine, a drama rushes through my glands for you, adrenaline rises hot in the pulse we share, I'm feelin you Eve, fevering for your cleaving to me, with both hands grabbing your welcoming neck like a pleasure treasure, kissing you from side to side, slowly, lovingly, open mouth survival, a lust revival, could be our last moment, love me with that viper tongue, this is how we were meant to be hold my staff as it ripens for you Eve, I lay you open as a new Gospel roaming your foaming fruit, mesmerized by the moaning, take my scepter as a rod of romance Eve - Eve's River - This Adam's Apple of your molding has given me a deep voice to rejoice our unfolding, a deep love untethered from choice, a necessity of partner's growing, My moral for you is to trust what you do Eve to listen as your moods revolve throughout doubt and devotion, I am the muscle in your might, the ferocity felling your fright, my religion is unhidden for our mortality once forbidden, Eve, you are more than the " Apple of my Eye " you are the chapel wherein I find my will to rebel, my law is to never let you fail, to subdue that which may make you wail, as long as I live your chalice shall brim with intoxicating vim, never forget that you are made from my flesh upright and unruly from the richness of my ribs, as a consequence of your yearning you now feel the bleeding, that red bath of a mortal's life, the strife of success, when Father raged I was your defender, your accomplice, I am your sword, and Lord, you are my wisdom, and my Lady, I have accepted the apple of our awakening and you will consume the seed of our flowering - Meadow Melodrama - You always need to have the last word Eve, what you fail to realize like a storm with no form is that sometimes the first word has more meaning than the last, as the first step begins the journey where the last step achieves the applause, you say I'm wrong about everything I say you're right about nothing, Father warned me about your impervious innocence being a defense for owning the backlash of judgement the backdraft of your ego's firestorm has injured us both, a whiplash that I feel in the arch of my wings, you tell me, "I killed the Snake", a Princess of wrath, a child on the cusp of Lake Lonesome, for love's sake woman pulverize your prize with eyes enthusiastic for our future so fantastic, I was always so fond of how you're perfectly prepared for battle, no Poet Warrior would I choose over the war drums you use, this nonsense of how, "I don't speak up" has got me angered up Luv, I've got three arrowheads inked on my bicep counting the foes flung to Father's fire for you, but still you wanna fret for another rampage rep, I wanted to take joy from watching you crunch the coward, to not intercept you from winning yor own war prideful in knowin that you weren't rattled by the scream of battle, And don't preach to me about secrets in sullen seas, I delivered my grief straight to your trophied floor, your mansion has many doors, countless scores, but you are no menace of mischief to me Eve, rather, you are the only Angel that I've ever adored I would slay eagles just to have you write songs of our love's might, I'm gonna go build a home for us on that ridge called Heaven's Bridge, go and make us some clothes from our captured game, and ponder the roots of our argument's throes, I love you more now than ever before... This is a series of poems that I wrote in 2014 based on the legend of Adam and Eve in the biblical Genesis narrative. Justin A. Bordner 2021
