Poem

Once upon a time, Billy's wife, Betty, had a boat
that she owned before they were married.
To dock the boat was costing too much money.
So, they brought it home and parked it out back.
I'd say their boat story happened about 30 years ago.

Billy later sold that boat for $500 and a drum set.
He gave Bob, the buyer, a promissory note for $300;
but Bob did not pay the $300 due as promised.
So, Billy went to him and took back the boat.

Sometime later, Billy sold the boat again for $500.
The buyer, Brad, paid $200 down and owed Billy $300.
Brad, like Bob, did not pay the remaining $300.                                          So, Billy went to him and took back the boat.

Sometime later, Billy sold the boat yet again for $500.
Unlike Bob and Brad, this gentleman, Bubba, paid Billy the $500                
and took the boat. $200 on the first sale; $200 on the second sale;           
$500 on the third sale. My calculations show that Billy and Betty              
received a drum set and made $900 on a boat they kept trying                  and finally sold for $500.                                  

Billy and Betty were happy that they finally got rid of that boat.              
Never again were Billy and Betty in the business of selling a boat.
