I had an old black car
Oh how it shone and reflected the lights and the moon
But alas I traded it in for a modern day sleek
Strange how we mourn for the things we seek.

I had an old black doll
Oh how she smiled with her rose-red cheek glow
But alas I grew up and lost her in years
Strange how we mourn for the things we hold dear.

I had an old black dog
Oh how she roamed with me my own personal guide
Strange how we mourn for the pets who have died.

I have no car, no doll and no pet
Oh how I remember the love of all that was black
Strange how we mourn when we take a look back.
