Poem
My daughter works hard and loves her work. She once expressed a desire to be a Pediatrician. It never happened, but for the last 20 years she has been caring and teaching young kids at a great Day Care School. She has a myriad of great stories to tell, and I would like to share one brief one with you. Several months ago, she indicated that when the COVID-19 virus struck last year, she and other employees were given the option to accept lay offs that would also include extra pay because of the epidemic. Some accepted the generous lay off offer, but my daughter decided to keep working. Over the months since, the trials and struggles grew and the work load was deadly. One day she said to me, "I wish that I had agreed to the lay-off and received all the extra money some of my ex-coworkers have been receiving for more than a year". My immediate reply to her was, "Honey, you made the right decision. It's usually better to work when there is work.". I am very proud that she understands the meaning of independence, individual initiative, self reliance, and self confidence. Such God-instilled qualities always serve us well-above and beyond our grandest expectations. Some government rescues are great, and sometimes we cannot survive without them. But government dependency is a grave disease very difficult if not impossible to cure. All across America, this disease seems to be spreading, and much too little is being done to stop it. Governments were once designed to serve the needs of its people, not for its people to serve the demands of their government. It should never be, 'in government we trust', but always, "In God We Trust'. 082521PS
