Poem
Beate’s last dance? She has the graceful air of a benevolent Queen, Walking tall and fearless in the rain, Focussed, yet completely relaxed and serene, Even though, she knows her fear and pain Cannot be unjust, bitter or mean And: I’ve never heard her once moan or complain. She has the indomitable spirit of a Mystic And touches everyone she has met. Her courage, quiet and optimistic Calms my anxious mind and I forget My dramas And everything That made me anxious and fret. She carries the scars of a well-lived life But her face has no signs of resentment or regret. She is like a rare desert flower With subtle colours and scent And her soft feminine power Could melt a heart made of cement. Whether she is dancing ecstatic and wild Or in conversation, working, playing Or looking at me and You like a curious child, She is always in this moment, present – now Always has time and her warm gaze Loving, caring and connected Somehow. She senses that in this body, That soon This will be the last dance she will take And last journey She will ever make, And yet… Is so full of life, And Love… And I ask: is this some kind of cruel mistake? And even as the cold wind blows I look in her pure blue eyes And see that she knows And trusts And is ready for the inevitable Storm That will carry her away. Bring her home. And she wants us to celebrate As if it is just another normal birthday And bring Our joy, sadness and everything. And would like that we dance Laugh and sing… She is my Inspiration, Is teaching me how to die Showed me how to love and live, And even though I’m full of gratitude, Am sad because I have nothing really to give. Nothing like the gifts that She gave Like: to never give up, Or lose hope But to trust and be brave Even: When everything feels stupid And pointless, Because we are living in a World Full of violence and madness And our hearts Are often full of fear and sadness And everything I do Seems not enough Sometimes useless, Her eyes still shine And say: Love will find a way. I know, that though her body is finally gone, Her presence full of grace And subtle fragrance, will simply linger on, Her musical Laughter and sweet smile Will be here For a long long while. And I pray That If she will someday be reborn That one of us will recognise Her unique and exquisite Soul And we all may be drawn Together again, like a sacred circle And dance, Laugh, cry sing And prepare, day after day To live in hope For a golden new dawn Because yes, she is right Love will always find a way.
