Poem
At the request of none, Nor the behest of any, except for me. But it's more than a guess that he has Contributed to the success of my life. I sat with an aged man when I, but a teen, Thought it wise as well as enjoyable to sponge From the edges of his many and varied life experiences. Such were many of both the success and failure variety; The ups and downs, highs and lows, joys and sorrows. Such were the gains and losses, though more losses Than gains. Yet, he and his lovely wife Evelyn were Most sane, delightful, and contented. Never before nor since have I met or heard of another By such name. His name was 'Dude'*; and I sensed no Connection of his name to the pain he bore. I knew of his pain, not because he showed or told me so, but because Pain was so much a part of his generation. There was no Secret to the fear that clearly remained; but like a saint, Mr. Dude and Mrs. Evelyn journeyed on just the same. Anyway, from those moments and minutes, those Hours and days for a couple of years, I drew a portrait Of a life, a journey through hills and valleys, through Rivers of calm and of white water rapids. That picture Of their pilgrimage has taught me a lesson in the wise Navigation of life. Though words of wisdom nor principles of life were Never documented for future reference, I tell you, Such were gravened deep inside the core of my heart. And until today, the volumes speak. They speak of their Tranquility, their civility, and their ability to live, laugh, And love, as they navigated life and moved right along. 073021PSCtest, Anything You Want, Chantelle Ann Cooke *https://babynames.com/name/DUDE. The name Dude is primarily a male name of American origin that means Man, Cowboy. Originally a word used for a cowboy, it is now used as a familiar term for a man. PEOPLE ALSO ASK, What's the meaning of the word 'dude'? A dude is an old word for someone who is always well dressed, also became a word used a lot in the 70s like mate pal guy buddy.
