"Let not your heart be troubled ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." John 14: 1-3 KJV Jesus spoke these words to comfort his disciples living in His life time. His promises hold true for His modern-aged contemporary twenty-first century disciples as well. Many people during His earthly life span believed in God the Father, but they did not believe in God the Son. There are many people who think that Jesus is not the equal of God and is a lesser God. But Jesus claimed, "I and my Father are one." John 10:30. The Jews wanted to stone Him because He claimed to be equal with God. Jesus promised his faithful disciples that He was going away to prepare a place for them. Some people say the word mansions mean physical dwelling places; whereas others believe it means plenty of space aka "elbow room." He reminds them that He keeps His word; if there were no mansions, He would have told them so. He promises to come again for them and also for us still alive today! Jesus wanted His followers around Him in heaven. Which is why He claims "where I am there ye may be also." Many believers Jesus, once He rose again and ascended into heaven, He engaged Himself in a giant construction project of physical mansions. But as I have already stated: others believe plenty of available space for all of His born again believers. Why would He embark on such a massive construction project? Especially since Heaven is not our home, but earth is! We remain there but only temporarily. Those of us who are raptured will only remain there for a time span of only seven years! After the tribulation period, we shall live on the earth for a thousand years. Satan will be bound in the bottomless pit for that entire time period! Our home is the New Jerusalem on a new earth. Jesus promises us He will make both a new heaven but also a new earth in the last book of the Bible, the book of Revelation the twenty-first chapter. "But I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride for her husband." Revelation 21:2 Love in Christ Jesus!
