Poem
I'm not your 'Life of the party' kind of GUY, but more the withdrawn kind, and SHY. Nor am I the conversationist I'd like to BE. But I will say I am confident, kind, and FREE. I will tune-in to you and listen with my HEART. I won't allow politics or religion to tear us APART. I'd never be awarded, 'The Most POPULAR', and I've never owned a fast red sports CAR. I'm a bit stoic and often short on WORDS. I'm not likely to rock your boat or DISTURB. I seldom speak loudly, but sometimes inside, I BOIL. I sometime feel like the tinman needing a little OIL. I would prefer to catch a fast TRAIN than an AIRPLANE, and I have often identified with the strawman needing a BRAIN. But from the START, I've had a HEART, and it often gets TOUCHED. I'm no sweet hearted teddy bear, but it doesn't take that MUCH. Like a couple of days ago while talking with a FRIEND who was sharing with me about things way back when. He spoke of some abuse issues in his childhood that moisturized my eyes. But after the beast came beauty when FRED proceeded to tell me about a coach who in 'one season' gave him a reason to do something beautiful with his life. Just 'one season' changed the trajectory of his entire life; Or like an UNCLE of my wife who became the only uncle I ever knew, because all of my biological uncles died at an early age. A gentle man of great integrity, so kind and tender toward his wife. I never knew if such qualities existed among my father's brothers. So I learned to treasure the relationship with Uncle GEORGE; Or like an AGED FRIEND who passed away a few months ago. He was 21 years my senior, and like a father to me, like the one I would have loved my father to be had he lived to be 92 rather than 58. My aged friend loved me, believed in me deeply, and made me feel that I was truly valued. There are times just a thought of him brings tears of gratitude for having known KEN. 071121PSCtest, (083121, 2nd contest entry: Your Favorite Rhyme Poem In August, Constance La France.) Touch My Heart Poetry, Regina McIntosh. 2P Rhyme scheme in first two stanzas. Rhymes are Capitalized; 'Heart touchers' in caps in next three stanzas.
