Poem
I get up to the sound of drilling, banging and speeding cars with sleepy passengers shouting, “a who did a give the order,” and the fading response of another passenger “ a the woman with the laptop computer a give the order.” I still cannot figure out what they are talking about, but every time I hear it, I just want to shout; it’s irritating, harassing and meaningless. “What is the order?” I asked, a man shook his shoulder and says, “Mi Noh know”, and another woman throws her hand into the air and replied, “I don’t have a clue what they are talking about, and suddenly she burst out in a horrendous laughter, “a noh PM a give the order, a the woman with the laptop computer a give the order.” I still don’t know what they are talking about, but for them it is entraining and it keeps them going and even the man on the corner is dancing to the new world order rhythm. It took to the street and the airwaves, disrupting the people’s heart beat, with the who is giving the order symphony and has turned it into a global business commodity. You hear it on every TV network around the globe, every radio station I approached and every website I browsed; the new world order phrase kept traveling around. The local taxi-man memorizes it, the handcart man rehearses it, and the bus driver repeats it. Sometimes it cause disagreements in the street and the local brawlers marched through the town with sticks and stones, baggage and bones and two men throwing fist and rolling on the ground, it feels like America’s crime drama, and a series of who is giving the order panorama, designed to verify the new world, it makes them fret and it makes them sweat. A fleet of car driving swiftly through the streets with apparatus struggling to compete and a time schedule to move the fleet. It is entertaining and provoking and this is what some rural people call the order, motor vehicle parading up and the street. Your presence, your voice and even a bright light will move the driving fleet through the street. You know where this phrase originated from? it came from a discussion I had with someone about Henry Kissinger’s new world order publication ,and since then the old punch line decapitate and they adopt the new world order phrase. It took over the entire world by surprise with a powerful storm raging havoc inside, it is catchy, it’s authentic, it’s transparent and alive. Everyone is saying it and everyone believes it, but still some people don’t know what the order means and the media must come and explain it. What s the order? I kept asking, what is the order? My curiosity keeps growing. They swallow it for lunch, they eat it for dinner, and digest it for supper, and the new world order phenomena have infiltrated the entire Jamaican race, and left the religious people without a base. The new world order rhythm is floating in the town and some call it the, the grape on the vine and the devil on the throne. Some call it the high priest and other call it the mark of the beast and some say its rainbow chief .I get up at 3:00 am in the mornings, and the minute I venture out door, I hear the word order resonating from next-door, and the dogs barking at the spying intruder as he walks up the hill. The children are saying it, the mothers are embracing it, and the fathers are hibernating in it. And when the Sunday bells chimes and music and the sermon begins, there is an abrupt silence, then the preacher wakes up the crowd with the same tune, “a noh PM a give the order, a the woman with the laptop computer a give the order” and this pattern continues until the services ends. And when you go to the grocery store some people cannot sell because the order is coming from the well. The children are starved for food because someone else is giving the order for the news, and they have to eat a special kind of food because some people in the street make up the rules. Oh what profanity has engraved the mind of men; oh what disappointment has birthed in the lion’s den, oh what guilt is resting on the conscience of men. If I tell the children to stand they stand, If I tell the birds to fly they will fly, If I tell the planes to land they will land and that exactly where I stand. Who is giving the order? What is the order? Subway sandwich. toad in hole, Yorkshire pudding, hamburger, Kentucky fried chicken, six bottles of spring water Japanese soba, California hot pot, Jamaican jerk chicken, and everything that you like to eat, please order something delicious for me to eat. That is the order!
