Poem
I watch the sea come in along the line. A conversation starts deep within this soul of mine. The lapping waves calling to the inner tide They invite to wash away the darkness in my mind. A pulling, tugging I can feel The waves are calling and to me it’s real The mind is racing to do a deal The soul is looking for somewhere to hide The waves, the water, the tide speaks and it speaks to me. It suggests a course so clear to see. To sing a song to the oceans tune. To walk head on into a watery doom. To allow the ocean to eat my lungs. My feet stay stationary on the sand I look to the sky and the palm of my hand. Though these callings and thoughts haunt my weary time on this land. I will decide right now that it ain’t time to go. The water retreats a few inches more. My feet were wet, they ain’t wet no more. The blue horizon says goodbye to me. But smiles knowing one day I may give in to the power of the sea.
