Poem
Hi America. When you were born, mankind was not used to the freedom you were aspiring. I think the Romans tested the waters, and the Greeks may have gotten a taste of it. But you, America, sink or swim, jumped right in hand and feet, with a Holy Trust in our God. I suspect that when you said, "More perfect", you only knew that your present status had no choice but to change; and you were prepared to go the distance to make it happen. Perhaps when you first departed the old country, you felt as if being released from a cave, and the crossing of The Atlantic, which nearly became your grave, really made you brave. So, you never looked back as you began to hope and dream, dispelling all your nightmares. In fact, the freedom expounded by you was so radical that the promoters did not abide it. Like when The Mayflower Compact was formed, no women, but only men, were allowed to vote it into existence. Unfortunately, it would take another 300 years for that to happen. Furthermore, I think not that you were to blame, because there was no model or example for you to follow. Notwithstanding, in reality, there was nothing complicated about it, because the hunger and thirst for freedom of the sort you sought was created inside of every mortal's soul, and that need could not forever be denied or remain unfulfilled. In a sense, I think that 'the die was already cast', and it was just a matter of time; God's time. Over time, and in spite of the many things that had to be overcome, you are still the envy of the world, and so many of our world's underprivileged and down-trodden are still beating a path to your doors. Anyway, America, you have a birthday coming up in a couple of weeks, and for your 245th, I just wanted to be among the first in the year 2021 to say, Happy Birthday. 061621PSCtest, All Yours(Jun 17), Brian Straand)
