Poem
May we be 'so graced' as to relinquish any faith, religion, or ideology that is not based in God. May our politics be inferior, not superior, to people May any box we conceive to build, whether willfully or inadvertently, be too small to contain The Lord of Lords and King of kings. May even a thought of such be 'Anathema'. We mortals, including Christians, have a myriad of biases that are worthy of the 'scrap-heap'. On occasions, sometimes looking back upon my narrow mindedness during the early days of my conversion to Christ, I am aghast. At the same time, I am grateful that, early on, I discovered the 'beauty of balance'. On the other hand, where are the 'Luthers' of today who refuse to recant. And where are the 'Davids' of today who are asking, "Is there not a cause?'* Must we be so accepting and so congenial as to accept whatever is placed before us? Must we be such mortals as to have nothing for which we are willing to suffer or die? Must everything we believe in be subject to discussion, debate, or compromise? Must we allow every trace of our forefathers' blood to be pumped and drained from our veins? Some things 'of Right ought to be'** forever enjoined to be intolerant and never to be accepted. May I be 'so graced' as our fellow believers who, in matters of persecution, accept death rather than deny The Christ of God. We cannot reach such devotion and commitment without a special encounter with Christ. For example, the great Paul was addicted to Judaism and willing to send others to their death in defense of his extremist views. He was driven by religious fanaticism and unstoppable, until he was totally grounded by his greatest enemy. After conversion, Peter was still bound by religious prejudice so deeply entrenched as to contest God Himself for infringing upon his belief. May we disallow our beliefs to be bound by blindness, our politics by deafness, and our prejudices by ignorance. And in my flawed state to which all mortals are plagued, may I find God's Grace to be forgiving toward those who are 'Indifferent'. 61521PSCtest, 71021,Strand July 12 Contest, Strand.1P *1 Samuel 17:29KJV *Declaration of Independence
