"...one can never leave home... one carries the shadows, the dreams, the dragons of home under one's skin, at the extreme corners of one's eyes.. " - Maya Angelou, Letter to My Daughter, 2008 Healing all my hidden hurts With music, laughter and light Sensations of silent winds Blowing a caress against naked skin Whispering joy through my heart On wings of azure promises Whistling, singing and dancing Reflecting all the imaginings Of a soul who bleeds warm hope And melts through prayers Of quiet truth, awakening silence In bright, brilliant visions Of inspiration, a muse so alive It feels like the color of praise Scarlet red, birthed in lavender Wishing for touches of tangerine Amber and gold and miracles so bold They birth beauty in their path Home is where the heart is, I’ve heard And listened to the speaker with hope Because I know my heart is in love With the twinkling eyes that look into me Welcome me and pleasure me Break me away from the sorrow and fear That causes me to wish I could always be Where these eyes fill me up with courage And make me alive in a way I’ve never been Alive to the moment, passionate Pure and praising the One who blesses With a feeling so precious it embraces me With joy I couldn’t possible express I can only feel it – It’s real and it’s warm And it caresses my very soul – It is home Where the heart is… with eyes gentled by life Reflecting my hope and faith and grace And all the love I have to give Home is where the heart is and my heart Is with this man of my gratefulness This man of my longing and laughing Like light shining across my thoughts and a Brilliant array of prayers so thankful They are lifted up to the heavens On hands who held their treasures with A faith that abides in amazement That He is blessing so richly, so kindly With blessings that fold hands into praise And lift heavy hearts to sing in a way That can only be accepted as adoration Worship of the One who created me Gave me the courage to break free of pain And love beyond my wildest imaginings With faith, hope and peace that assures me My heart belongs to a home of eternity Love like this is beyond words It’s bigger than awesome and wilder Than the night… it is growing fuller With each passing expression of gentleness That breathes a prayer up to Him The One who is home to the love that Has become agape, eternal, beyond measure Love like this is the home I so treasure!
